Tired Madrid

Tereza started in her third World Cup race in Madrid with a ticket to Beijing in her pocket, which she managed to win last weekend in Offenburg. Knowing that no one can take her Olympic nomination from her made the race situation much easier. However even this advantage did not help her to confirm her position in the World Cup, the exhaustion from the previous races showed itself and Tereza finished the Madrid race in 22nd place. “I thought it would end even worse, I haven’t been feeling well all week, I’m very tired and even have two cold sores and a small injury,” explained Tereza.

After the start Tereza was moving around the top ten riders on the very fast race track. During the quite agile race Tereza was losing her power and in the end crossed the finish line 22nd. “I manged to ride well just one lap and then it all went wrong. I put all my energy into the first two World Cup races in Houffalize and Offenburg so now I felt that I’m missing my power and speed,” said Tereza. Although the Madrid race did not exactly work out, Tereza is still in 13th position of the UCI World Cup race ratings. The next race will take place on Saturday May 31st in the Pyrenees kingdom — Andorra.

The race in the Spanish metropolis was dramatic right to the end, Gunn Rita Dahle made her comeback in the last few meters of the race when she managed to beat Marie Helene Premont from Canada. Margarita Fullana from Spain finished in bronze medal position. The men’s race was also quite dramatic and finished in a third consecutive win of Julien Absalon from France. He managed to beat the fans’ favorite Spaniard Jose Antonio Hermida only two kilometers before the finish line. You can find more information about the race on MTBS.cz

Due to the upcoming European Championships (May 15.-18.) Tereza together with her coach Lutovsky decided not to start in the second Czech MTB Cup race in Teplice. “We prefer to choose quality training for the European Championships,” confirmed Tereza’s coach.
